Python dir() Function

The dir() method returns the list of valid attributes of the passed object.

Syntax​

dir(object)

dir() Parameters​

Python dir() function parameters:

ParameterConditionDescription
objectOptionalThe object whose attributes and methods should be listed. If no object is given, dir() will return the names in the current local scope.

dir() Return Value​

The dir() function returns list of strings containing the names of the attributes and methods of the given object.

If no object is specified, dir() returns the names in the current local scope.

Example 1: dir() function with a List​

dir() function with a filled List:

number_list = [1, 2, 3]
print(dir(number_list))
